Praying Circles Around Your Children: Review

I read this book a few months ago and have been meaning to write up a review ever since. It was recommended to me by a friend and didn’t fail to amaze me. It was such a powerful message to Christian parents.

Praying Circles teaches parents that they can make an extraordinary impact on their children through the power of prayer. Mark Batterson offers very practical advice on how to keep up with praying for your children individually and as a family. He teaches us that you may never be a perfect parent, but you can be a praying parent…and that’s just as good!

I don’t necissarily want to say that this is a manual on HOW TO PRAY because it really isn’t. It’s more of a lesson on how to pray effectively and how to REMEMBER to pray. I know that I have a long list of prayers for myself, my family, and all of my loved ones but often life gets busy and it’s hard to remember each and every single one of those prayers and follow through with them. Mark’s words are a huge help in this as he teaches you different methods of keeping up with all of the promises God has for your children.

I highly recommend this book for anyone (and everyone!) who wants to effectively pray for their children.

Here’s my favorite quote:

“Pray about what to pray about. …The purpose of prayer is not to outline our agenda for God; the purpose is to get into the presence of God and get God’s agenda for us.”

This was the biggest lesson I learned from Praying Circles. I’ve always had a tough time thinking of what to pray about…What a concept! Pray about what to pray about…so simple, yet so profound!

{Yummy Tortellini Soup Recipe}

I came across this recipe on Point of Grace’s Facebook page. I love cream based soups (and anything with pasta) so I decided to give it a try.

Here’s the original recipe:

3T olive oil
1 Clove garlic, minced
3 stalks celery, chopped
3 carrots, peeled & chopped
1 onion, diced
10 oz box frozen spinach
2 cans cream of chicken soup
2 cans water
32 oz chicken broth
Family sized package of tortellini (chicken or cheese), half cooked

1) add olive oil to a large stock pan
2) sauté garlic, onion, carrot and celery over medium heat until tender
3) add spinach
4) continue to cook until spinach is heated through
5) add cream of chicken & water
6) add chicken broth & tortellini
7 heat & serve

Here’s my version:


I tweaked it a bit to make it just a tad healthier. I replaced the cream of chicken with 2 “cans” of heavy cream and seasoned well to make up for the lost salt. I also used organic veggies, fresh spinach and organic chicken broth.

The verdict:

It was a hit! I loved it, my husband loved it and my toddler even loved it! It was even better as leftovers for lunch today. I highly recommend this recipe.

It is with heavy hearts we announce we are no longer expecting a child. Our little baby was lost to a miscarriage unknowingly at 8 weeks. Thank you for your care and support during this difficult time. Prayers are much appreciated as we grieve the loss of our little one.

10 Weeks With Baby #2

I’ve decided to start doing my bump updates on Sundays because that’s when I change over. Hope it’s not to confusing.



How far along? 10 weeks

How big is baby? The size of a date!

Total weight gain/loss: 3 lbs total.

Maternity clothes? Still wearing my maternity jeans from last week, but not every day. I can still fit into my normal jeans and I love comfy yoga pants and leggings.

Stretch marks? Nope!

Sleep: sleeping great now that I stole one of Ryan’s pillows to put between my legs. Maybe it’s time for one of those pregnancy pillows.

Best moment this week: spending time with my sister and Evie playing with her cousins.

Movement: Nope!

Food cravings: oranges and pasta. I’m not really into much sweets this time but I have been liking pumpkin pie.

Anything making you queasy or sick:
scrambled eggs and ground beef.

Symptoms: I’m definitely getting some energy back! Yay! I’ve been taking daily walks with my family. My boobs aren’t as sore anymore either. I am still peeing a lot, I’m always thirsty and I get tired earlier than before pregnancy.

Have you started to show yet: Yes! Although the bump hasn’t grown much since I started showing.

Leakage: lol no. I hate this question.

Gender prediction: not sure, but we set the date for our gender reveal party. November 15th!

Labor Signs: Nope.

Belly Button in or out? In.

Wedding rings on or off? On and still loose.

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy as long as I don’t get hungry.

Weekly Wisdom: Tuna salad is yummy and toddlers like to kick your tummy even more when you are pregnant. Lol

Milestones baby has elbows! 😊

9 Weeks With Baby #2



How far along? 9 weeks 3 days

How big is baby? The size of a wild strawberry

Total weight gain/loss: I’m so far I’ve gained about 2 lbs which is a lot less than last time.

Maternity clothes? I actually did buy a few things the other day. We were at Ross and they always have cheap maternity staples there so I decided to take a look. I ended up getting a pair of maternity jeans, a plain black tee, a blouse and a cardigan. I’m not wearing any maternity in this picture, though.

Stretch marks? Nope!

Sleep: once bedtime comes I’m seriously ready to sleep. I swear I could sleep all day if I didn’t have a toddler that needed to be cared for haha

Best moment this week: getting settled in our new home…finally!

Movement: Nope!

Food cravings: Toasty sandwiches and anything sour like salt and vinegar chips.

Anything making you queasy or sick:

Symptoms: thirst, frequent peeing, stuffy nose, sleepy, sore boobs. But I’ve started to get my energy back, I don’t feel very sick anymore and I don’t have anymore constipation!

Have you started to show yet: Yes!

Leakage: lol no. I hate this question.

Gender prediction: we are thinking boy.

Labor Signs: Nope.

Belly Button in or out? In.

Wedding rings on or off? On and still loose.

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy most of the time. I do get moody if I’m really hungry or I can’t get comfortable.

Weekly Wisdom: I know that I am kind of prone to stretch marks because last pregnancy I got them on my boobs and hips, but I also didn’t think about moisturizing those places much. So this time I got Palmer’s coco butter all over lotion along with my belly concentrate. Hopefully that will help because I used it on my belly last time and got no stretch marks.

Milestones: baby’s facial features and ears are forming 😊

Week 8 with baby #2



I am feeling a little bit better finally and getting a bit of a bump so I’m going to start my updates. I found this questionnaire on a forum I’m a part of so I’m going to use it this time. I hope it’s interesting enough!

How far along? 8 weeks 5 days

How big is baby? The size of a little raspberry.

Total weight gain/loss: I’m not really sure but I’d say maybe 2 lbs from bloat and the insane amount of fluids I’ve been drinking.

Maternity clothes? Not yet! Just been wearing leggings and yoga pants mostly but my jeans still fit.

Stretch marks? Nope!

Sleep: It’s hit or miss. Sometimes I’m so exhausted I pass out hard and sleep great and sometimes I toss and turn all night. I also usually have to get up to pee at least once.

Best moment this week: getting to spend so much time with Ryan since he has off work until October 20th.

Have you told family and friends: Yes! Telling our parents was so fun! They were all in town one night and we all got together to play cards. We had Everleigh in a big sister shirt and they were so shocked! I’ll have to upload the video sometime.

Movement: nothing yet.

Food cravings: Coconut water. I like the sound of a lot of food but when I start eating it usually makes me queezy.

Anything making you queasy or sick:
Everything I eat, eggs, spicy stuff.

Symptoms: nausea, bloating, fatigue, sore boobies and dare I say…constipation! Aaahhh!

Have you started to show yet: A little bit! Much sooner than last pregnancy!

Leakage: lol nope

Gender prediction: We are thinking boy but would be so happy with either one.

Labor Signs: Nope.

Belly Button in or out? In.

Wedding rings on or off? On and still loose.

Happy or Moody most of the time: MOODY! Lord forbid I get hungry. It’s never good haha.

Weekly Wisdom: Never brush your tongue in the first trimester. You might just spend the day over the toilet 😉

Milestones: My little bump and finally “feeling pregnant” whatever that means.
